Co-curricular Activities

Participation in co-curricular activities with an international or intercultural focus may be used towards the CIL.

Approved activities and events are assigned a point value. Students must accumulate a total of 15 points to fulfill the CIL Co-curricular requirement.

To accumulate points, you may combine any of following:

1) Serve as an executive member for an internationally-oriented student group for one academic year (maximum of 5 points)

  • must be an official Students’ Union-registered student group
  • Examples: UAlberta Indian Students' Association; AIESEC Edmonton  

2) Volunteer for select programs with University of Alberta International for one term (points vary):

Each of the following may only be counted once for CIL credit, to a maximum of 5 points.

3) Attend approved co-curricular events (points vary)

Students can submit co-curricular events that they think should qualify for points to

Requests must include the name of the sponsoring organization and a web link or event description. 

Suggestions should be submitted well in advance of the event and, if approved, will be added to this list.
